Telemedicine is nothing new and for people who don’t have convenient access to medical care it can quite literally be a lifesaver. What about the rest of us? Me and you, the people who drive five or ten minutes to see our doctor, why would we ever need telemedicine services, would we use it if it became readily available? UnitedHealthcare (the country’s largest health insurer) wants to find out. On April 30th, UnitedHealthcare announced that its self-funded customers have the same access (standard copay) to telemedicine as they do to traditional in-person based care. This coverage will extend to all plans throughout the year.
